Curious Case of Creativity Amidst Infinite Prompts

Back in the days when I was working on designing my college department’s annual magazine, I used to search a million pages, just for getting a creative spark. Might even get inspired by some layout ideas and try to improvise on it rather than just copying the entirety. And then deleting the entire draft.

Caffeinated late nights.
Slurp. Surf. And Stuck in the loop.

Struggling with the basics of Adobe Indesign back in 2013 where the availability of tutorial videos on YouTube was the only resource for help. Looking for cracked versions of plugins. Trying to generate a good publication from the scratch. It was tiresome yet rewarding.

I still remember the people from the press asking whether we took professional help as they were impressed seeing the design and layout.

But I never experienced the lack of creativity. Or rather frame it as the curiosity to be creative. The main hurdle was the lack of resources. Not imagination.

A few days back when i was in work of designing my website milesandmarks.com I was experiencing a different kind of problem. Curiosity was almost near to zero even though I was having an abundance of resources to look for.

I am still rekindling the once curious part of mine. I am not willing to substitute my craft with ai alternatives. Maybe I can use it to get a creative spark.

At the same time I am surprised by the booming market of ai generated ads used by even the biggest names in marketing. Novelty is not so key in the market it seems. What if all the billboards look alike?

Where should we draw the line between creativity and innovation. Is it ethically correct to be largely influenced by the market trends or should we be authentic in creative innovation.

Maybe coffee is the way out.
Slurp. Seek. And believe.
